Alright, this one’s a quicker story, but still pretty funny.
It happened right after TikTok got banned for like a day or two — and Tim was devastated.
Ever since I met him, Tim’s been obsessed with TikTok. Like, phone-in-his-paws-24/7-level obsessed. I lowkey think he wants to be famous, but he never admits it. Ever since he found out I make videos, he’s been trying to be in them — and somehow, he became the star of the channel. Over me. The guy who actually makes the videos.
Honestly, I should probably make him run his own website (that I built for him), but that’s a convo for another day.
Anyway, after the TikTok ban, Tim made the jump to Instagram Reels instead of YouTube Shorts — no clue why. Maybe it’s cause we get more views there or just likes the layout. Either way, one day I saw him scrolling on Reels near the laundry room and got an idea.
See, I’ve studied Tim’s TikTok habits for a while — and he’s got a rhythm. He’ll watch videos for exactly 30 minutes, and then like clockwork, he’ll either go get a snack or hit the bathroom. So I acted like I was doing laundry, folding some clothes in the next room, but really, I was waiting. The second he stepped away, I started a 30-minute timer.
Why? Because once Tim hits the 20-minute mark watching Reels, he enters this… trance. Nothing gets through. Nothing. But that’s a story for another time…
Anyway, he wasn’t in the trance yet, so I set up my phone, hit record, and caught him mid-scroll when he got back. I let the footage roll so people could see his For You Page (or, I guess, Explore Feed or whatever). No surprise—it’s mostly spider content.
Then, once I saw he was fully locked in, I screamed.
And Tim? Tim did a backflip.
I’ve known this guy for months and I have never seen him backflip. I was so caught off guard that I jumped as he jumped. It became this weird, accidental double jump scare.
I ended the video right after, and Tim stuck the landing, but he was not happy. He marched over to me, mad as ever.
I looked at him and said, “Hey bro, you’re always asking to be in the videos. I needed an upload today.”
Totally joking, but yeah… he didn’t find it that funny. He was salty for the next few hours.
For the record though — I love Tim. He’s a good dude. It was just a joke.
But I haven’t seen him that mad since the day I accidentally made him disappear.
But that’s a story for another time…
